Here are practices that can anchor happiness to your life this coming year:
Start a “Gratitude” list on your phone or notepad.
Recording the “cool” parts of your day can increase positive emotions, boost your immune system and more. The awesome parts may include positive events, meaningful interactions, or special moments. By holding a focus on the good parts of your day (and life) you will banish your brain’s tendency to just call it another day.
End that negative self-talk
Have you ever noticed how you speak to yourself? Are you hearing criticism and judgment? Start listening to your inner voice and see if you can begin to be kinder to yourself. Self-compassion results in less anxiety and greater feeling of overall well-being.
Where are you? Be in the Moment
This means just being aware of what’s happening around you and within you – using all 5 senses.
The big benefit – your mind will stop obsessing over the past or worrying about the future when you practice this mindfulness. You will need to consciously make mindfulness a daily regular part of your life in order to curb your habitual wandering mind.
